India bundled out for a paltry 36 at Adelaide in their worst Test innings ever

Adelaide: India recorded their worst ever total in an innings in Test cricket in the ongoing series against Australia on Saturday.

The Indian team were bundled out for just 36 runs in the second innings of the first day-night Test.

Its worst ever score earlier was 42 against England way back in 1974 at Lord’s and 58 versus Australia in 1947.

At Adelaide India batted first and put 244 on the board in the first innings before bowling out Australia for 191.

In the second innings, none of the Indian batsmen reached double figures. Mayank Agarwal the top-scorer in the innings, hit 9 runs before being caught by Tim Paine off Josh Hazlewood.

Captain Virat Kohli could only manage four runs before he was caught by Cameron Green off Pat Cummins.

For Australia, Hazlewood dazzled with 5 wickets and Cummins pitched in with 4 scalps to trigger the worst Indian collapse in a Test innings.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said India were all out for 36 in the second innings. Mohammed Shami, who suffered a fracture during the match, retired hurt.
