Will India cancel Republic Day invite to Boris Johnson?

India delayed a nationwide shutdown due to the ‘Namaste Trump event in February this year, despite having information about how the coronavirus was spreading fast.

History is repeating itself, with a new strain of the virus coming to light in the United Kingdom.

Many European and Western nations have banned flights to Britain.

For some strange reason, Indian political leaders are still sitting in a meeting to decide about India’s Republic Day parade.

Most major economies in the European Union, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have banned air travel to the United Kingdom.

Reports suggest that there are around nine non-stop flights to London from India’s four metros, ferrying around 2,500 passengers daily.

The government must immediately suspend the Republic Day celebrations this year and ban all flights to and from the UK.

Any delay in this regard is bound to lead India to yet another economically devastating lockdown across the country.

Do we need a lockdown, or ban flights to the UK and mitigate the risk?

The time to act is at our doorstep. What is New Delhi waiting for?
