‘The Queen’s Gambit’ and the return to the chess board

I played chess during my school days. My enthusiasm for the game met a checkmate almost every time I lost.

I remember defeating a senior in school during a preliminary round and that boosted my confidence.

It involved a lot of thinking on my part and was finally glad to win that particular match though I was beaten in the later stages.

I never really played the game later on nor do I intend to play it in the near future.

With my background of this game in mind, I binge-watched The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix as it was engrossing.

I was later surprised to notice that the show was one of most watched ones on video streaming platforms.

However, the story of how the show came to life is very interesting. The show’s producer Alan Scott took 30 years and 9 rewrites to get the show on air.

Scott said almost everyone he reached out to was discouraging him saying “no one is interested” in chess.
