Kuwait okays Pfizer-BioNTech jab, Bahrain registers Sinopharm’s

Dubai: Bahrain has okayed Chinese-made Sinopharm Group’s vaccine for widespread usage against covid while fellow Gulf state Kuwait allowed the use of Pfizer and BioNTech’s shot.

Bahrain earlier allowed the emergency use of the covid jab, which was administered to frontline workers who were in contact with coronavirus patients.

The shot has been given to several hundreds of thousands in China, but is yet to receive public use approval from drug regulators.

Peru had suspended trials of the Sinopharm shot after an “adverse event” during a clinical trial. The health minister there is probing the event to find out if it’s related to the covid jab or is something else.

Therug was authorized last week for use in the United Arab Emirates.
