Christmas a sign of hope, says Pope Francis

Vatican City: Pope Francis on Sunday said the season of Christmas gives reason for hope amidst the troubles of the covid pandemic.

Francis noticed that the Vatican’s Christmas tree had gone up a week ago in St. Peter’s Square, and that work is in progress to construct the life-size Nativity scene close to it.

Looking at the tree from his studio window over the square and pointing to it, Pope Francis said that such images of Christmas “are indications of expectation, particularly in this troublesome period”.

He asked people to review the genuine significance of Christmas — Jesus’ borth — and assist the neediest.

He stated: “There’s no pandemic or crisis that can put off this light. “The Vatican hasn’t delivered the pope’s Christmas plan yet.

The Vatican’s formal administrations are being held without people’s presence due to covid.
