New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct exams for classes 10 and 12 from May 4 to June 10 next year, Union minister of education Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said.
Practical examinations will be held from March 1 and the results of all the exams will be announced by 15 July, he said.
Practical exams are usually held in January and the written exams begin in February and conclude in March. However, these are being put off in view of the covid-19 pandemic this year.
“Date sheet for both classes will be issued soon,” Pokhriyal said.
The government, he said, is working on a solution for CBSE schools in over 25 countries and promised an update soon.
Schools have conducted pre-board exams online.
CBSE said earlier this month that the board exams will be conducted in written mode and not online.
Schools across the country were closed in March to contain the spread of COVID-19. They were partially reopened in some states from October 15.
However, a few states have decided to keep them closed in view of a spike in the number of infections.
The board exams this year had to be postponed mid-way in March. They were later cancelled and the results announced on the basis of an alternative assessment scheme.
The government had announced that Joint Entrance Examination-Mains (JEE-Mains) for admission to engineering colleges will be conducted four times a year beginning 2021 to allow students a chance to improve scores.
The first edition of JEE-Mains will be conducted from February 23 to 26, followed by rounds in March, April and May.
The delay in board exams, however, may affect the conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which is conducted in May.
