CBSE board exams begin on 4 May; class X papers end on 7 June, class XII on 10 June

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the schedule for the board exams that begin on 4 May.

The exams for class X will conclude on 7 June, while those for class XII will end on 11 June.

Class XII exams will be conducted in two shifts to reduce the number of exam days.

Over 3.4 million students have registered for Classes X and XII exams.

Practical exams are conducted in January normally and written exams are held between February and March.

This academic year, exams are delayed in view of the covid-19 pandemic.

Schools were closed last March to contain the spread of covid. They were partially reopened in some states from 15 October.

Last year’s board exams were postponed mid-way in March and later cancelled. Marks were assigned on the basis of an alternative assessment.

The timings the two shifts of class XII exams will be 10.30am-1.30pm and 2.30pm-5.30pm.

The datesheet has been prepared in such a manner that on any day the number of students at a centre is limited. This will help the centres follow covid safety rules, officials said

For class XII, the exam will begin with English on 4 May followed by additional subjects like Taxation, Carnatic Vocal Music and Hindustani Music on 5 May.

On 6 May, exams for Knowledge tradition and practices of India, Nepali, Automotive, Financial Markets Management, Insurance, Electronic Technology, Medical diagnostics, Kuchipudi dance and Odishi dance will be conducted in second shift, followed by Physical Education exam on 8 May.

Exam for Engineering graphics, Food production, Media, Shorthand and Textile Design will be conducted on 10 May, followed by Typography and Fashion Studies on 11May and Business Studies and Business Administration on 12 May.

Physics (13 May, Retail and Mass Media Studies (15 May), Accountancy (17 May), Chemistry (18 May), Political Science (19 May), Biology (24 May), Economics (25 May), Geography (2 June), Psychology (5 June), History (10 June).

For class X, the exam will begin with Odia, Kannada and Lepcha on 4 May, followed by English on 6 May and Hindi on 10 May.

Science (15 May), Social Science (27 May), Maths (21 May), Arabic and Sanskrit (2 June) and exam for Computer Applications on 7 June.
