Vijay’s ‘Master’ to be remade in Hindi

Mumbai: Master, the Tamil film starring Vijay Thalapathy, is all set to be remade in Hindi.

The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed film that also stars Vijay Sethupathi released on Thursday, while its dubbed Hindi version hit theatres on Friday.

7 Screens—which produced the film and has its distribution rights—Cine1 Studios and Endemol Shine India on Friday said they have acquired the rights to adapt Master in Hindi.

Master revolves around a professor (Vijay) who tries to reform a juvenile school system, where he clashes with a gangster (Sethupathi).

Abhishek Rege, chief executive officer of Endemol Shine India, said Master is laced with masterful performances and a powerful narrative.

The movie will go down as the flick that flipped the box office tide amid the covid-19 pandemic, Rege said.

Master is the first major film to release amid the pandemic and has received an overwhelming response.

“We are proud to have acquired the rights to such a hot property; We look forward to recreating the magic of this film in Hindi,” Rege said in a note.

Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios said his company aims to support and deliver content-driven cinema. “We are proud to present the film in Hindi,” Khetani said in a note.

The casting for the Hindi remake is likely to start soon.
