Hyderabad: Superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo hospital in Hyderabad on Friday following severe fluctuation in blood pressure (BP) and is now “stable”, the hospital said.
A press release from Apollo said Rajinikinath, who is “stable and resting”, will stay at the hospital while further tests are conducted.
The south Indian star-turned politician was shooting for Annaatthe in Hyderabad over the past few days.
Rajinikanth was in quarantine and is under strict isolation and monitoring after some people at the site tested positive for covid-19.
The tests on the 70-year-old actor showed he did not have covid.
“Mr Rajinikanth has been admitted in the hospital…Though he did not have any symptoms of COVID-19, his BP showed severe fluctuations and needed further evaluation for which he has been admitted to the hospital,” Apollo Hospitals said in the press release.
The statement further said apart from fluctuating blood pressure and exhaustion, he does not have any other symptoms and is “haemodynamically” stable.
Medications to control blood pressure are being carefully “titrated”, the hospital said in a release later.
Well-wishers have been advised avoid visiting the hospital as he won’t be allowed to meet anyone.
The shoot of Annaatthe has been halted after four members of the film crew tested positive for COVID-19.
Production house Sun Pictures had said this week that Rajinikanth and other crew members have tested negative for the virus.
Annaatthe, directed by Siva, stars Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raaj and Khushbu, among others.
Rajinikanth is set to launch his political party in Tamil Nadu in January, ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections there.
Rajinikanth was supposed disclose more about plans of his political future this month.
