Mumbai: Netflix announced late Monday the screen adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize winning novel The White Tiger.
The English-language drama directed by Ramin Bahrani will arrive on Netflix on 22 January
Netflix made the announcement on Instagram while sharing the trailer of the film.
“The White Tiger, January 22. Based on a New York Times best selling novel. Executive produced by @priyankachopra and @ava,” the post read.
The White Tiger stars Adarsh Gourav, known for films like My Name is Khan, and Netflix series Leila.
Gourav as Balram, the film’s protagonist, works as a driver for Rajkummar Rao as Ashok, a wealthy businessman.
The trailer released on Monday gives a sneak peek into Balram’s journey from taking the fall for a crime he didn’t commit to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
In The White Tiger, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas stars as Pinky madam, a first-generation immigrant in the US, who is married to Ashok.
Chopra Jonas is an executive producer of the film, along with Emmy award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay.
Netflix has produced the flick in association with Mukul Deora.
