Idukki/Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Anil Nedumangadu, known for his role as a police officer in Ayyappannum Koshiyum, drowned near the Malankara dam on Friday, police said.
The actor, 48, who was in Thodupuzha for the shoot of his film, Peace, that also stars Joju George, had gone to bathe during a break when he drowned.
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while condoling the actor’s demise, said Anil Nedumangadu set his niche in Malayalam flicks by essaying notable characters.
Vijayan said Anil left an indelible mark among film viewers with his inimitable acting prowess.
Anil who started out as an anchor also starred in Njan Steve Lopez, Pavada, Kammatti Padam, Porinju Mariam Jose.
Actors Suraj Venjaramudu, Biju Menon, Dulquer Salman and Prithviraj, mourned Anil’s death on social media.
