Lupin, Netflix’s next gambit

Lupin has nothing to do with the Indian pharmaceutical giant producing generic medicines.

The original content being produced by Netflix has quite a good collection.

Lupin, the latest of such shows, is a slick production.

The French show is likely to follow in the footsteps of The Queen’s Gambit to rake in the big bucks for Netflix.

What drew me to the show? Well, it happened on Twitter.

I was intrigued when Netflix liked a comment by a certain Prof Moriarty tweeting that Lupin is one of the best shows to have been produced by Netflix in a long time.

I binge-watched all the five episodes of the series and didn’t have to fast forward them except for the last episode as it was getting too late at night.

The show is worth a watch once.

The series is fast-paced, with some interesting background score to boot.

The lead character in the series tries to follow in the footsteps of Arsène Lupin, a fictional gentleman thief and master of disguise.

French writer Maurice Leblanc created the character in 1905.

Though Arsène Lupin was the original name, a politician with that name objected to his name getting tarnished.

The character was first introduced in a series of short stories serialized in the magazine Je sais tout.

Omar Sy who plays Assane Diop’s role has done an amazing job.
