New Delhi: Budget airline SpiceJet said it will start flights on the Mumbai-Male route in a phased manner from 24 December.
The flights will operate under the air bubble pact between India and the Maldives, the airline said in a press note.
SpiceJet will deploy its Boeing 737 aircraft on the route, the airline added.
All scheduled international passenger flights have been suspended since March 23 due to the covid pandemic, but some special flights are operating under the Vande Bharat mission since May and under bilateral air bubble arrangements since July.
India currently has an air bubble arrangement with over 22 countries. Under an air bubble, airlines of both nations can operate flights between their territories with certain curbs.
