Harry Potter series on HBO Max likely

Los Angeles: Streaming site HBO Max is said to be planning to make a series based on author JK Rowling’s classic Harry Potter.

The Warner Media-owned streamer is in talks with potential writers to bring the famed books alive on the small screen, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Broad ideas have been discussed as part of the early-stage exploratory meetings, some people in the know said.

Rowling’s books, which chronicle the story of the eponymous teenager, hit the book stands between 1997 and 2007.

More than 450 million Harry Porter books have been sold worldwide, distributed in over 200 territories and translated into 79 languages.

Actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint starred in a series that was made into a blockbuster film franchise.

The eight-film series began with 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and culminated with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows–1” in 2010 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows–2 in 2011.

The franchise has earned ₹7.7 billion at the box office.

Warner Bros, the sister company of HBO Max, is making the third part in the spin-off franchise Fantastic Beasts, which began with 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
