26/11 attack mastermind and LeT chief Lakhvi arrested in Pakistan

Lahore: 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind and operations commander of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was arrested in Pakistan on terror funding charges, reports said.

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab province arrested Lakhvi, who is out on bail in the 26/11 attack case since 2015, on Saturday.

The counter-terror force did not say where he was arrested.

CTD said LeT’s Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi was arrested on charges of funding terrorism “following an intelligence-based operation”.

The terror funding case against Lakhvi, 61, was registered in a police station under CTD Lahore, it added.

Lakhvi ran a dispensary and used that money to fund terror, apart from meeting personal costs, CTD said.

The terrorist will be tried before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore, the counter-terrorism department said.
