Kolkata: Former Indian cricket captain and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly on Sunday met West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.
With West Bengal assembly elections due in April-May, speculation was rife that Ganguly may soon join politics.
People aware of the development in Raj Bhavan, however, dismissed the speculation on politics and said Sourav Ganguly’s visit was a ‘courtesy call’.
“Had interaction with ‘Dada’ @SGanguly99 President @BCCI at Raj Bhawan today at 4.30 PM on varied issues. Accepted his offer for a visit to Eden Gardens, oldest cricket ground in the country established in 1864,” the governor tweeted.
Ganguly is said to have reached Raj Bhavan at 4.30pm and the meeting is said to have lasted for at least an hour.
