AIIMS nurses in Delhi call off strike

New Delhi: The nurses union of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Tuesday called off their strike after a meeting with the hospital administration, and a restraining order earlier in the day from the Delhi high court on continuing the agitation.

Around 5,000 nurses of AIIMS in the national capital struck work over their demands, including those with regard to the Sixth Central Pay Commission.

AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying that the nurses “have called off their strike and have joined their duties”.

Health ministry officials and the hospital administration held a two-hour meeting during which the nurses were assured that all “local issues” would be addressed immediately, PTI quoted an unnamed official privy to the developments.
